The ability to look at your data and enable your users to visually comprehend the story can be improved with the use of icons and graphics.
On this Power BI chart we use icons to represent Nobel Peace Prize winners. To give an overview the data is grouped into tens with the female winners coloured purple. Use of an explanatory text, with the same colour, helps tell the story.
On the Unicode page, we demonstrate how to use any Unichar character to represent a visual with the title changing to represent the chosen Peace Category. Again we are enabling a clear picture for our users. The colour purple is carried through from each page.
The Histogram page groups the data into Age bins, with each bin spanning ten years. We can use a measure with text to tell the story of the age of the winners within each category. Who was the youngest winner and in what Category?
Most of the reports I work on are commercially sensitive, however, I find this initiative by a group of amazing data evangelists really help develop the visual aspects of Power BI but also give a chance to showcase what Power BI can do.
Keeping current and up-to-date is essential in this industry, and this is an excellent way to do this visually
Any questions, happy to help,
